Welcome to the Infancy section of Well Baby Center and other Local Resources.
Well Baby Center's Mindful Parenting Groups
Parent/infant relationship support groups focusing on promoting sensitivity, flexibility, and mindfulness in
communications between parent and child. Facilitated by licensed family therapists, sliding feescale series, focuses on enhancing the attachment relationship through mindful, reflective parenting practices. Parents have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences as parents as well as on the impact of their own early relationships. One or both parents may attend with their child. Group meets weekly and is ongoing.

A Place for Parents/YWCA
A Place For Parents is a part of the Santa Monica YWCA offering Toddlers/Infants & Me Classes, and a variety of Parent Support groups. Cottage Activity Time (2 hour drop-off groups for 2 1/2 year olds) is a program based on supporting development through play where social skills and conflict resolution skills are emphasized. The group supports the separation process between parent and child. (Children do not have to be toilet trained.)

RIE Groups

SmartStart
SmartStart is a DIR school for special needs children, based on the DIR/Floortime principles of Dr. Stanley Greenspan. SmartStart provides a comprehensive developmental program tailored to the individual needs and differences of each child. SmartStart will direct parents towards resources that may be able to help fund their child’s services. For instance, for 18 months – 3 years, children who are Regional Center clients may be eligible for funding through the Westside Regional Center. Children with behavioral issues, who are Regional Center clients, may receive funding for our behavioral services.
